St-Alexis-des-Monts and Le Lac à l’Eau Claire

January 16th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Today was a beautiful and sunny winter day. I went to my hometown where I grew up in La Mauricie. It’s called St-Alexis-des-Monts and it is located 90 minutes from Montréal and 45 minutes from Trois-Rivières. It’s a nice small and quiet community where tourism is doing quite well.

Lac a l'Eau Claire snowmobilingSt-Alexis is home to Le Lac à l’Eau Claire where I worked for a summer back in 1994 and l’Hotel du Lac Sacacomie. Our stop today was Le Lac à L’Eau Claire, under the Hotellerie Champetre banner, who welcomes Bombardier’s top executives on a regular basis. The residents of St-Alexis are proud to sat that former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien took the former President of Chili, Ricardo Lagos to Le Lac à l’Eau Claire in July 2003.

Lac a L’Eau Claire - cottagesThere are many accommodation options: there are 16 cottages with 4 to 5 bedrooms that are equipped just like your home with nice fireplaces, 25 guestrooms in the main auberge (inn), two pavilions with more guestrooms and condo units (my favourite type of accommodation). There’s also a dining room with the view on the lake, an Aquatic Centre and many onsite activities such as snowmobiling, dogsledding, ice-fishing, etc.
